Joint venture incorporated by ACWA Power, Air Products and NEOM. NGHC was established.
August 2021
NGHC awarded Germany’s Thyssenkrupp Nucera the contract to supply the electrolysis plant for the project.
March 2022
NGHC signed a contract with ENOWA, an energy and water company founded in NEOM, to construct the Hydrogen Innovation and Development Center (HIDC) in NEOM.
December 2022
Facility agreements with local, regional and international banks.
December 2022
Haldor Topsoe contracted to provide technology for green ammonia production.
December 2022
Larsen & Toubro appointed EPC contractor for power transmission and generation works.
January 2023
NGHC awarded operating license by the Saudi Ministry of Industry and Mineral resources (MIMR).
May 2023
Financial close at a total value of $8.4 billion investment, with significant participation from SIDF and the National Infrastructure Fund (NIF).
June 2023
Full notice to proceed issued to Air Products for construction of the green hydrogen facility.
November 2023
First major delivery of wind turbines reaches NEOM Green Hydrogen Company site
August 2024
HIDC scheduled to open, producing 8 tonnes of green hydrogen per day for the local market and providing operational data from the facility’s first 20MW electrolyser.
August 2026
Plant will be fully operational, with green hydrogen exported globally in the form of green ammonia.
